Part of the series Tracing Lines:

Featuring grids lines and segments, these paintings explore the patterns in life cycles. They are inspired by the cyclical repetition across generations, creating an imperfect, yet connected storyline.

I recently found my corsage from my high school prom while I was cleaning out a closet. Physically, it was a disaster. Crushed, ugly, and didn’t smell all that great. I mean, it’s old. But I could feel my boyfriend (who is now my husband) putting it on my wrist when I touched it. My kids are the age now that I was then. Many of my paintings, including this one, are heavily influenced by this craziness of them wrapping up the childhood phase of life. I started this one the week my son graduated from high school, and there may be some tears mixed into it. Essentially, this piece is about love.
