Part of the series Scaffolding series:

This collection focuses on the concept of scaffolding, both in the structural and the developmental sense.  Scaffolding is supportive but not determinate.  It doesn’t define, rather it provides a framework which offers many perspectives. I am interested in what holds us up: as an individual, as a community, and in our surroundings.

“Lumen is a measurement for the brightness of a light. When I was painting this, I wanted to capture warmth and support in a muddled yet beautiful way. While light literally is the driving force of our world (hi, sun!), I was referring more to the glimpses of brightness that peek through and get us through the more difficult times. These colors and the woven composition evoke a bright space where I want to rest my eyes and let my mind wander. The painting Inflorescence, 48” x 48”, also highlights this same sentiment”
